Walking along the beach, or even just sitting near the sand you are bound to find creatures living the beach life. Hermit crabs are especially abundant here and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Back home in Washington State there are a lot of hermit crab shells that have washed ashore, however next to none have actual crabs living in them. Here at Carate Beach it is the opposite. The beach is alive with shells walking around. It is so neat to watch them interact with each other. Sometimes you can even see another crab try and take a different shell, which ends in one crab left naked.

The beach creatures are not only found on Carate beach, but also on the hillside of the Lookout Inn. Walking up the path to the main lodge it is very common to spot hermit crabs, lizards, frogs and even the white faced coati!
