Lookout Inn Tropical Update
Sorry about the late update on the Inn but we have been very busy here in the tropics with guests and new construction.
We purchased the lot next door and are building two new open air platform cabaña’s with an adjoining bath house in the middle; kind of a tree house project. They are great and have wooden walk-ways and stairs wrapping around the property, along with a platform with chairs and hammocks high above the ocean. There will be a horse corral near the bottom with all of this linking to the Inn.
We are also extending the BAR, a huge project that will wrap around the front of the kitchen, joining the existing bar. There will be 12 more bar stools, 2 tables, 8 chairs, giving this a lounge affect for the happy hour people. This will be another great place to experience the GREEN FLASH, which we have seen 7 times so far this year with more to come.
Weather, oh boy…It’s been a fun year, my prediction was off a bit. We had a record rain of just over 368 inches for the year and it really did not start falling down until the middle of April and stopped the middle of November. Wet and wild for us in paradise, but we survived and the world here is greener than ever and all the animals, birds, frogs, insects are happy and there are twice as many.
Katya has horses for you riders out there. Me, I’m still running around like crazy working on my next project but still do my early morning yoga/rites.
We had a guest last week walking in Rio Carate bird watching and a had a huge black cat cross out in front of him and his wife. The locals are telling us there is a black panther roaming the area, that or it was a muted jaguar. An Ocelot was also sited on our ridge trail 3 days ago by another guest, so its been a bit exciting around here lately. As always the noisy but beautiful scarlet macaws are still buzzing the Inn and munching on the wild almonds out front. The white face monkeys are getting way too friendly and are now visiting the kitchen and taking whatever they can grab and run with…bananas, raw eggs, cold beers, whatever! We are starting to name them after our guests…
The whales have been a bit scarce this year, possibly the weather change or just a bad year for birthing. Remember, for the scarlet macaw lovers, June and July is a great time to see flocks of 60 to over 100 flying overhead all day, so browse around our website and please visit us again. We are always updating our site and adding new pictures and encourage all of you to contribute to ‘What People Say’. We appreciate all of you who have contributed to our on-line guest book and to our photo gallery, thank you again, without you and you’re referrals, we wouldn’t be what we are today.
We hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season and all of us at the Lookout Inn thank you for being a part of our family.
Friendship, love and thanks again,
Terry, Katya, Wendy and the staff
