On Top of It All in a Costa Rica Lodge

The Lookout Inn on Beautiful Carate Beach on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica is home to many of the worlds most unique animals such as these leaf cutter ants. These specialized feeders harvest small pieces of leaves and other plants and bring them into their mound. They then place them in special chambers to grow a fungus that they eat. When the fungus has been eaten the leaves are removed.
